Phone software update Error Code: 12017

Error code: 12017  when trying to reinstall my phone software using Ovi Suite 3.0.0.284

NOKIA E-Series shortcuts (QWERTY)

All the shortcut keys (QWERTY) represented here are with Respect to E71 and similar phones may also have the same set of shortcut keys (some vary with model)
To Mark A Single Item :

Shift + center d-pad

To Mark Multiple Items :

Shift + d-pad down/up

To Copy & Paste  :

Ctrl+C (but you need to hold down Func+Chr+C to get this on the keyboard). You can highlight text (in edit situations) by holidng the shift key and moving the direction pad. Copy will appear as on of the softkey labels. (thanks to this post)

Bluetooth Shortcut :

Press and Hold * key.

Switch Between Silent & General Profile :

Press and Hold # key.

Shortcut To Launch Browser From Standby Screen :

Press and Hold 0 (zero)

Bring Open List Of Open Applications :

Hold down Menu/Home key.

Green Call to send the image.
Fn + * for full screen.
Fn + 7 to zoom in. Press twice for the full screen size.
Fn + 4 to scroll left while in the zoomed image.
Fn + 5 to zoom in.
Fn + 3 to rotate right.
Fn + 2 to scroll up while in the zoomed image.
Fn + 1 to rotate left.
Fn + 0 to zoom out.

1 for bookmarks.
2 to find something on a page.
3 to return to the previous page.

Resetting memory card password on symbian s40 phones (Java powered)

The easiest thing to do (that many mobile phone users don't know) is to rename the memory card.
 Surprisingly simple isn't it? But how do you rename your memory card?
Here:

 1. Go to the mobile phone Menu/Gallery and then scroll down to the memory card. Just highlight it, do not          open it yet.

 2. Instead, go to Options/ Rename mem. card, enter Select.

 3. Delete the old name bypressing Clear several times until the entry is clear.

 4. Now, type your desired new memory card name and press OK.

 That's it, you can access the memory card again!

 Note: This procedure has been done on a Nokia 6300, which is a S40 series
 phone, with a MicroSD Memory Card. It's up to you to try this with other
phone models.

to hide videos and photos of gallery in n97

In the nokia n97 and similar phones all the video and photos are viewed in the gallery .

This is annoying when the private media is also visible in the gallery

there is a way to avoid this thing

1.by compressing the media files into a folder in ZIP format

so that the media can only be viewed by opening the Zip folder and not on the gallery

2.And an alternate way is Using SMART GUARD application which is available HERE

N97 files unable to delete

This is a problems that occurs in all phone which are capable MASS STORAGE funtion

and the files which become unable to delete occurs due to errors caused by

not properly disconnecting the phone from the PC

to solve this error connect the phone to the pc(for windows) via mass storage then

go to my computer-->right click on the phone's drive and select properties

in the new window select tools and click Check Now --> click start

then the error will be cleared

and don't forget to use "safely remove hardware " while disconnection in order to prevent these errors
