Deleting "Stuck" Installer Files in S60 3rd Edition

I have seen a problem with “stuck” installer files in S60 3rd Edition phones for a couple of times. The information from Application Manager shows that the applications are not installed. However, they cannot be deleted because there is no Delete menu . They cannot be re-installed either because it always fails with “Unable to install” message. Those files are basically just stuck there.

From my opinion, it looks like a bug in S60 3rd Edition (not sure if this has been fixed in S60 3rd FP1). I don’t really know how to prevent this problem, but it has happened to my phones several times. Once, I saw this problem after one application failed to install. In other occasions, I saw this problem after resetting my phone to the default factory settings.

What should we do if we have this kind of “stuck” installer files in S60 3rd Edition? One way is to delete the installer file manually via Windows Explorer. Unfortunately, we cannot use any file manager application because those files are located in a protected folder.

* Firstly, connect your phone to a PC via USB.
* Choose Data Transfer (a.k.a. Mass Storage). Do not select PC Suite because you won’t be able to browse protected folders in PC Suite mode.
* Open Windows Explorer on your PC.
* Go to \private\10202dce on the phone’s folder.
* There, you should be able to find the installer files (.sis). Just remove them using Windows Explorer.

Anti Virus for Mobile

In Todays world the need for anti virus in every mobile is a vital part due to increased surfing and downloads since the virus can sneak into every phone .But most of us neglect this because many anti virus is only available at a certain cost and we are unable to bare that cost.

This is also a same story in my book until i discovered the NetQin anti virus software because it is available for free (also availabe premium version) , but most of us think that free anti virus is ineffective in clearing viruses but i got it wrong when i used it because it scans even during surfing ,software installation ,etc

so i recommend you guys to try it

And also try these products as well

Resetting memory card password on symbian s40 phones (Java powered)

The easiest thing to do (that many mobile phone users don't know) is to rename the memory card.
Surprisingly simple isn't it? But how do you rename your memory card?
Here:

 1. Go to the mobile phone Menu/Gallery and then scroll down to the memory card. Just highlight it, do not          open it yet.

 2. Instead, go to Options/ Rename mem. card, enter Select.

 3. Delete the old name bypressing Clear several times until the entry is clear.

 4. Now, type your desired new memory card name and press OK.

That's it, you can access the memory card again!

Note: This procedure has been done on a Nokia 6300, which is a S40 series
phone, with a MicroSD Memory Card. It's up to you to try this with other
phone models.

to hide videos and photos of gallery in n97

In the nokia n97 and similar phones all the video and photos are viewed in the gallery .

This is annoying when the private media is also visible in the gallery

there is a way to avoid this thing

1.by compressing the media files into a folder in ZIP format

so that the media can only be viewed by opening the Zip folder and not on the gallery

2.And an alternate way is Using SMART GUARD application which is available HERE
