Nokia Plans to Launch Four Symbian Smartphones in Future

Thai news site, Flashfly reveals about the Nokia’s development of four Symbian smartphones. The site was able to collect information only about one of the four phones called Zeta or Nokia 700.

The Nokia 700 constitutes 3.2 inch display with 640x360 pixels, a camera of 5 megapixels, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, memory card holder with a capacity to hold 32GB and NFC abilities. The size of the device is said to be 110 mm (l) x 51 mm (w) x 10 (d) mm with 1GHz processor.

As per FlashFly, the images of the handset revealed that the phone appealed in white color but the company must have planned to develop the phone in other color also. Nokia was the biggest mobile manufacturers but it was not popular in the smartphone segment. However, the company was planning to use Microsoft Corp.'s Windows Phone software as the operating system for its smartphones in place of its own Symbian software, which is expected to affect the sales of the smartphone.

The declaration of this deal has not improved the status of Nokia at the stock exchange; instead the stocks fell by 40% and are 84% down, since the deal to change the operating system was undertaken.

Deleting "Stuck" Installer Files in S60 3rd Edition

I have seen a problem with “stuck” installer files in S60 3rd Edition phones for a couple of times. The information from Application Manager shows that the applications are not installed. However, they cannot be deleted because there is no Delete menu . They cannot be re-installed either because it always fails with “Unable to install” message. Those files are basically just stuck there.

From my opinion, it looks like a bug in S60 3rd Edition (not sure if this has been fixed in S60 3rd FP1). I don’t really know how to prevent this problem, but it has happened to my phones several times. Once, I saw this problem after one application failed to install. In other occasions, I saw this problem after resetting my phone to the default factory settings.

What should we do if we have this kind of “stuck” installer files in S60 3rd Edition? One way is to delete the installer file manually via Windows Explorer. Unfortunately, we cannot use any file manager application because those files are located in a protected folder.

* Firstly, connect your phone to a PC via USB.
* Choose Data Transfer (a.k.a. Mass Storage). Do not select PC Suite because you won’t be able to browse protected folders in PC Suite mode.
* Open Windows Explorer on your PC.
* Go to \private\10202dce on the phone’s folder.
* There, you should be able to find the installer files (.sis). Just remove them using Windows Explorer.

Anti Virus for Mobile

In Todays world the need for anti virus in every mobile is a vital part due to increased surfing and downloads since the virus can sneak into every phone .But most of us neglect this because many anti virus is only available at a certain cost and we are unable to bare that cost.

This is also a same story in my book until i discovered the NetQin anti virus software because it is available for free (also availabe premium version) , but most of us think that free anti virus is ineffective in clearing viruses but i got it wrong when i used it because it scans even during surfing ,software installation ,etc

so i recommend you guys to try it

And also try these products as well

Resetting memory card password on symbian s40 phones (Java powered)

The easiest thing to do (that many mobile phone users don't know) is to rename the memory card.
Surprisingly simple isn't it? But how do you rename your memory card?
Here:

 1. Go to the mobile phone Menu/Gallery and then scroll down to the memory card. Just highlight it, do not          open it yet.

 2. Instead, go to Options/ Rename mem. card, enter Select.

 3. Delete the old name bypressing Clear several times until the entry is clear.

 4. Now, type your desired new memory card name and press OK.

That's it, you can access the memory card again!

Note: This procedure has been done on a Nokia 6300, which is a S40 series
phone, with a MicroSD Memory Card. It's up to you to try this with other
phone models.

to hide videos and photos of gallery in n97

In the nokia n97 and similar phones all the video and photos are viewed in the gallery .

This is annoying when the private media is also visible in the gallery

there is a way to avoid this thing

1.by compressing the media files into a folder in ZIP format

so that the media can only be viewed by opening the Zip folder and not on the gallery

2.And an alternate way is Using SMART GUARD application which is available HERE

Tricks to reset your Symbian s40 or s60 phone

Here, first two tricks are common for most symbian phones.

Soft Reset: With this trick, mobile settings are restored to the factory settings. But it keeps the games & applications which are pre-installed. To do this press *#7780#
Deep Reset: It is the mostly used and the safest way to remove all the infected files and to fix all the bugs that are caused by some virus affected applications. To do this reset, press *#7370#

STEP 2: If the problem is big and if you are not able to dial above mentioned numbers then you have to follow the following procedure.
keep pressing the following keys and switch on your phone while still pressing the keys. The keys are * and 3 and Green(Call Button).

Hard Reset (Touch Screen or When the display is not active)

The Procedure to reset your touch screen phone is way different from the keypad phones.

For Nokia 5800: Press the keys Red(End Call) + Green(Start Call) + Photocamera Button and switch on your mobile holding this keys.

For Nokia N97: Press both the Shift Keys + Space Bar + Backshift, Hold this keys and turn on your phone.
This procedure also suits for E-series with QWERT keypad

For E-series with normal keypad use the procedure in STEP 2

Deleting "Stuck" Installer Files in S60 3rd Edition

I have seen a problem with “stuck” installer files in S60 3rd Edition phones for a couple of times. The information from Application Manager shows that the applications are not installed. However, they cannot be deleted because there is no Delete menu (see screenshot below). They cannot be re-installed either because it always fails with “Unable to install” message. Those files are basically just stuck there.

From my opinion, it looks like a bug in S60 3rd Edition (not sure if this has been fixed in S60 3rd FP1). I don’t really know how to reproduce this problem, but it has happened to my phones several times.

* Go to \private\10202dce on the phone’s folder.(need hacked phone)
* There, you should be able to find the installer files (.sis). Just remove them using Windows Explorer.

You can also acess & even delete these file using phone just go to file manager

And use Search (find) the folder private
and in that go to the 10202DCE and delete the file which are not installing.

N97 Flash Flood problem

The most annoying thing about N97 is that when you slide the camera cover every time it scratches the camera area and in short period it could result a permanent scratch
which causes the part of the flash to enter into the camera causing a flash flooding
in the picture taken

but this huge problem can be solved just by using a black marker.

please watch the below video , because it is easy to understand rather then reading
it is worth watching

leave your comment about this idea!!!!!

Setting up Google Sync for N97

There are 2 ways that you can store your contacts online, one is using ovi and the other is Google Sync. I have my contacts stored at both locations but I still prefer to use Google Sync because I use Gmail and now Google Voice.

To set up Google Sync with your N97, you need to download Mail for Exchange. I’ve read that it’s available on Ovi Store but I couldn’t find it. However, on the N97 NAM MfE is already pre-installed on the device. All you have to do is open your N97 browser and type in “c:\installation\MailForExchange_S60_5_0.sisx” and hit “go to”. The application will start installing.

After installation, go to applications and open the MfE folder. Launch the application Mail for Exchange. Now continue with Google Sync : Setup Instructions and start synchronizing your contacts.

Remember to back up your contacts first before you sync with google. A couple on my contacts got replaced/deleted.

  1. Just dial *#7370# on the stand-by screen in the phone

-this step works only when the phone is able to boot

E72- Battery Emergency

Following few tips how to get more of your E72′s battery when needed (Not for a normal daily usage) :

Nokia N8 vs E7

Nokia N8 and Nokia E7 are the recent Smartphone launched with lot of advanced features and latest Symbian^3 operating system. We have already seen that they are getting a lot of buzz in the mobile arena and people are waiting to see what is new in the latest operating system that is said to have more than 250 new features and more user friendly.

Nokia E7 is a communicator with slide out qwerty keypad and targeted for business users whereas Nokia N8 is the latest one in the popular N-series mobile phones and missing qwerty keypad.

We have tried hard to put all the features in the tabular format for easy comparison.

20 Tips and Tricks for Nokia E7 users

1. Manage slide handling. In order to choose how your E7 behaves when you slide the screen up, go to “Settings -> Phone -> Slide handling“.
There are four fields, so you can tweak the settings to suit you best. If the first field, Transfer audio, is set to On, your call will be transfered to loudspeaker when you slide the screen up. In the second field, you can choose if you want the screen to be locked every time you close it, or not. If you set the third field to On, every time you close the screen, you’ll be at the home screen. Finally, field Home screen action allows you to set various actions to be performed when you open the screen (while on home screen). Here’s a screenshot of how I like to keep my E7, and I suggest you do the same.2. Unlock the phone using the keyboard. If your E7 is open, and the screen is locked, you don’t have to use the lock/unlock slider key. Instead, you can press any keyboard button, and the screen will unlock.

3. Use keyboard shortcuts while typing. This is one of the main reasons I would choose E7 over the N8. Physical keyboard brings some handy shortcuts, similar to those on your PC. While composing a SMS or email, you can select text precisely using a Shift key in a combination with navigational arrows. Hold the Shift key and press the left arrow (if your cursor is at the right side of text), and you’ll select letter by letter. You can select the whole row if you hold the Shift key and press the arrow up. Similar goes to right and down arrows, if you’re left from the text. If you want to highlight the whole text, just press Ctrl + A.

Once the text is highlighted, you can copy it by pressing Ctrl + C, or cut it, by pressing Ctrl + X. If you do that correctly, you’ll see a screen that looks just like the one below.
Now, you can easily paste it anywhere you want by pressing Ctrl + V.4. Use keyboard shortcuts in Email app. The inbuilt email client has a few handy shortcuts of its own, and they can save you A LOT of time. There are two groups of these shortcuts – while in folder (for example, Inbox), and while reading an email. All the shortcuts are very easy to remember, so here we go.

First, while in folder, you can compose a new email by pressing the letter C. You can easily start searching for some messages by pressing the letter S. Letter Z will synchronize the current mailbox, and letter H will open the Help. The screen below shows a reminder of these shortcuts – but shortcuts do not work while Options window is showed!

Now, while you’ll reading an email, you can easily reply to the sender by pressing the letter R, or to everybody who is involved, by pressing the letter A (reply to all). You can forward the email you’re reading by pressing the letter F, or delete it by pressing the letter D.

5. Use keyboard to navigate through home screens. You can switch between homescreens without touching the screen, simply by pressing navigational arrows left and right. You’ll see a highlight box around the app/contact you’re currently at (similar to non-touchscreen phones, s60v3), and you can launch it by pressing the Enter key.

6. Type a contact’s name while on the home screen. You don’t need to open the contact application in order to call someone, you can just start typing hers/his name on the home screen, and then, you’ll be able to call her/him simply by clicking on the name. If you want to send a message instead, just hold the contact’s name a little longer.

7. Start typing while in Calendar to create a new Meeting. This is a practical tip for those who are using the inbuilt calendar app very often. Once in Calendar, position your self on the desired date and just start typing – this will create a new meeting with that name and you will be able to modify the other fields as well.

8. Manage default numbers in a contact. A lot of your contacts probably have more than one number, and this is what you see when you open such a contact:

So, in order to lose the extra click, you need to set the default numbers. You can do that, while in a contact card, by pressing Options -> Defaults, and selecting the primary number for calling, texting, etc…

9. Call/text the non-default number. If you do what I’ve described in the previous tip, you may think you’ve lost the ability to dial the other number(s), that are not set as defaults. Don’t worry, all you need to do is to tap-and-hold the Voice call or Message field, and you’ll have an option to choose the desired number.

10. Create a contact group. This tip is a great time saver, and it will allow you to do various actions for a group of several contacts. You can create a group quite easily, by launching the Contacts app, and selecting the second tab, Groups. When here, just click “Options -> New group“, and give group a name, for example VIP or Business.

11. Add contacts to a group. Group by itself isn’t that useful, so you need to add some contacts to it! Click on the group’s name, and then “Options -> Add members“, as shown below.

Now go through your Contacts and select the ones that belong to that group. Click OK when finished.

12. Remove a contact from a group. If you do not fancy someone, you can remove him/her from your (VIP) group by doing the following: open the group, and tap-and-hold the undesired contact, until a pop-up window shows up. Then click on the “Remove from group“.

13. Send SMS to a whole group. In order to do this practical thing, open the message editor, click “To”, and select a group instead of a contact.

14. Set a special ringtone for a group. You can set your phone to ring in a different way when you get a call from someone in the group. Just open Contacts, select the “Groups” tab, tap-and-hold the group’s name and click on “Ringing tone“. Select the desired sound and you’ll be notified differently when someone special calls.

15. Set your phone to ring only when contacts from a group is calling. This tip is probably one of the most neglected things in Symbian, and I’m about to change that! Imagine this: you want to take a day nap, but you’re expecting an important call from a certain person. You cannot turn off your phone, but, you also don’t want to be disturbed by some random guy/girl. There is a simple way to deal with this: create a group of the most important contacts, as shown in the tip no. 9. Now, go to “Settings -> Profiles“, and click on some profile you want to modify. Click “Personalize” and scroll down till you get to “Alert for“.

Select the desired group in the next screen, and your phone will only ring if someone important calls!

16. Access your Dropbox via phone! This absolutely lovely tip isn’t actually mine, so you can read the how-to here. Thanks to Michael Hell for this one!

17. Call several people at once. If you’ve missed tip no. 38 from the Top 67 Nokia N8 tips and tricks, read it, and activate call waiting. This tip is really useful if you need to speak simultaneously to several people (up to six!). Here’s how you do it. Call the first person regularly. When she/he answers, ask her/him to be patient and press the “Contacts” icon. You can alternatively use the dialer, by pressing the button with the same name.

Find the second person you want to call and press hers/his name, followed by the pressing of “Voice call“.

If you’ve managed to do this correctly, 1st person will be on the hold, and you will be talking only to the second one!

In order to put the first person back into the call, just press the “Conference call” button. Now, you will be talking with both persons at the same time. You can repeat this until you get to 6 persons.

18. Use LED flash as a torch. E7 (as well as C7 and C6-01) have a handy illuminating feature hidden – just pull and hold the lock/unlock key for 3 seconds, and dual LED flash will produce impressive amount of light. to turn it off, pull and hold the same button for the same period of time.

19. Use voice dialing. In order to call someone by saying their name, you need to activate this feature by long-pressing the call key and pressing “Activate”. After that, hold the call key and say the name of the contact you wish to call.

20. Set up speed dialing. You can call up to 8 of your contacts using the digit keys in a particular way. In order to set this up, go to “Settings -> Calling” and then select “Speed dialing“.

Tap on any number you like, and assign it to the desired contact. Now you can swiftly call someone by long-pressing of one of the digits from the dialing pad.

How to Full Format your bricked N8

Here is the method to full format and make bricked N8 come alive again:

1) Turn off your phone

2) Hold “Volume Down + Camera Key + Menu Key” and press power button until your phone shake

3) Wait until screen show properly… and welcome back!!

Please note that I found these problems after doing full format:

1. I lost Ovi Maps. However, you could reinstall it by download it here

2. I also lost Ovi Store 2.0 and I can’t reinstall it since it always show “Unable to install”.

So please DON’T do full format if not neccessary or actually I must say that DO IT ONLY AS YOUR LAST CHOICE.

PS : *#7370# does the hard-reset too.

how to hard format a nokia 5800

The hard-reset or better known as format Nokia phone is simply to perform a factory restore, i.e. a process to restore the phone to factory default settings.

Although this "secret key" does format Nokia 5800, it COULD NOT reset the Nokia 5800 lock code or security code back to the default 12345!

So, what is the secret key to format or hard reset Nokia 5800?

For non-touchscreen Nokia phone, like my earlier N73 that running on S60 3rd Edition UI, the so-called secret key to format or hard reset is by pressing call key, asterisk key, and the numeric key 3 while power on the device, until the Nokia logo appears.

For Nokia touchscreen phone, like Nokia 5800 and probably valid for next smart phones running on S60 5th Edition UI too, press the call key (green), cancel call key (red) and the camera shutter button while power on the device, until the Nokia logo appears.

The first symptom of successful format / hard reset is the touchscreen vibration turning on (if you've turned it off before hard reset).

Next, depend on your phone settings before hard reset / format, you're prompted to enter PIN code followed by lock code (remember, the lock code remains same as what you've set for it).

Then, the interface request you to choose your country followed by setting the date and time for the phone.

to find password of memory card

If you use a Nokia mobile, fortunately, you have an application which can find your previous forgotten password or lost password. You may have heard of ‘FExplorer’.

It can be used to go through (Search) your disk and see your lost password.

Just Download the application, transfer it to your phone and install it.

Once installed, go to ‘C’ disk and then click on the ‘system’ folder. Scroll down to find ‘mmcstore’ and open it using the editor (click on options -> file ->Editor/Viewer).

There you go, your saved password is right in front of you which made you mad all these days.

Note: This method only works when the ‘phone memory’ has not been formatted since the password is lost.
